Modern Mediterranean Nutrition Consultant and Author

Conner Middelmann is a nutrition coach from Europe, holding a DipION from the Institute of Optimal Nutrition in London. Over the past 20 years she has guided clients on therapeutic nutrition protocols like the ketogenic, paleo and autoimmune. Conner has also developed the Modern Mediterranean Diet, a low-carb variant of the famous Mediterranean diet. 


Conner wasn’t always a nutritionist; an early-stage cervical cancer diagnosis 21 years ago (she was working in a stressful job as a financial journalist at the time) was her wake-up call. Her holistically oriented doctor recommended dietary changes to support her treatment and she was so impressed by the results that she quit journalism and trained to become a nutritionist.

After years of eating convenience foods, her diagnosis also prompted Conner to learn to cook. This became a new passion after she moved to Toulouse in the south-west of France; during the 11 years she spent living and eating among the French, Conner came to know and love the Mediterranean diet and wrote Zest for Life: The Mediterranean Anti-Cancer Diet.  Together with radiation oncologist and integrative oncologist Brian Lawenda, M.D., Conner has co-authored a cancer patient guide, Empowered Against Cancer, due to be published in May 2021.

Conner and her family moved to Boulder, Colorado in 2012, where she sees patients at the Colorado Center of Medical Excellence and teaches bi-weekly nutrition workshops at Boulder Community Health / Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, where she is also a member of the integrative oncology board. 

Prior to becoming a nutritionist, Conner obtained a B.S. in Government and History from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Certificate in Counseling from Birkbeck College, London University. She is trilingual in English, French and German and works with clients all over the world via Internet-based video conference. When she’s not testing recipes and geeking out about nutrition, she loves to hang out with her kids, hike, ski, read, and sing.
